Have you ever made a faux pa that you just KNOW will come back to haunt you….but in your weakness you go ahead and do it anyway?
Well, last night, I did just that. My 5 year old had a nightmare and came to our room in the middle of the night. Instead of settling him, and putting him back in his bed…in my weakness I told him to hop in our bed. Big mistake! I have never been able to sleep soundly with a child in my bed..let alone a big 5 year old…so why oh why did my sleepy self let it happen?!? Boy am I paying for it now!
**Note to half asleep self in the middle of the night: Pleeease do not invite any more children in our bed. You can not sleep when you are squashed up in an awkward position ALL NIGHT!**
I take my hat off to all those mothers and fathers who are currently in a constant hazy, sleep deprived state from waking babies, children, uncomfortable pregnancies etc. You’re amazing!!

ha ha ha..I’ve had exactly the same thoughts. It seems like an easy solution at the time, but makes the night horrid.
I just wanted to let you know that I got the poppies painting at Wal-Mart {of all places} for $29 and the big tulips at Ikea for $79.
Thanks for stopping by this morning and leaving such a nice comment! I hope you can catch a nap sometime today!
XOXO,
Andy
Here, here! We always had a steadfast rule that our now 6 yr old could only come into our bed in the morning and we managed to stick with it. BUT, with our 4 month old, that rule has fallen by the wayside. We are breastfeeding and when he first came home I was diligent about putting him back into his own sleeper but during his latest growth spurt and constant need to nurse, I have begun falling asleep and letting him nurse as he chooses. He now prefers to be in bed and able to latch on or fall off at his choosing. I have really got to get motivated and set up his crib! LOL Hope you can find a few moments for a catnap.
Sleep is for the weak!
I was also disturbed last night – not used to it and it’s been killing me today – have turned into shouty mum. My very nearly 5 yr old woke me up muttering about hammerhead sharks – a very specific type of nightmare.
We used to have a big enough bed that bringing a crying child to bed with us wasn’t as big of a deal. Now it’s a nightmare. Thankfully it doesn’t happen as much as it used to. Hope tonight is much better!
I had my tall 4 year old in my bed last night. Had to problems whats so ever
It doesnt happen all the time but sometimes its nice
especially when I wont see him till Monday afternoon he spends the Fridays and the weekends with his dad
It’s so hard to go backwards isn’t it? I mean, when you have a newborn, you make it through those months of multiple wakes in the night. But when that baby is gone and you’re used to getting your nights sleep again, it’s hard!
Thanks for dropping by my blog and for the lovely comment
Hope you get a better sleep tonight – kids are like dogs/cats – they always seem to take up the whole bed, even though they are supposedly “small”.
I can’t sleep with a child in the bed, either – and I definitely can’t deal with a broken night’s sleep anymore, either!!
