I finally have my very OWN sewing machine! The money that I had earmarked for it finally came through yesterday. Very exciting!
In hindsight, my first sewing project should have been something simple. Instead I decided to just try out a concept I had in my head. Basically it is a mini-tote for my daughter’s lunchbox & drink bottle, which has draw strings at the top so everything stays in the bag.
Thankfully it turned out the way I wanted. I learned a lot (thanks youtube & blog tutorials!) I just have a greater appreciation for patterns, because it probably means a lot less unpicking!
PS Everyone is back at school/Playcentre, and I am feeling much better thanks!

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. The sewing machine looks awesome! Now that my girls are showing interest in learning how to sew, I guess it’s time for me to start looking for one too.
Wow… that looks like one fancy sewing machine! Gorgeous! I bet you’ll get a tonne of use from it! I have a Kenmore Mini-Ultra and use it for paper.. haha!!
Oh.. I haven’t eaten ice cream in years and years.. so no biggie. lol! I’ve always loved the “lightness” of sorbet!
Love the sewing machinge – what is it?
Hey Teri! It’s a Janome MS5027LE. I bought it at Wellington Sewing Services. I spoke to a few seamstresses and they recommended going to a sewing supplies store to buy it rather than a chain store, because they know what they are talking about and their after purchase support is excellent. They also said that they are more likely to carry quality machines (although you can get some good brands at the chain stores). Wellington Sewing Services were REALLY good! On different occasions I was recommended the MS5027LE when I told them my budget. And when I said I wanted to buy it, the man got the demo machine and showed me how to thread it, the functions of the machines and how to use it etc. He said to come back anytime for any questions and said I could book an hour and get help if I needed to. Really impressed.
