Do you remember the scene on Mary Poppins, where she looks like she could fit right into her bag, as she searched for items when she was decorating her room? (Who could forget the huge lamp shade that came out of her carpet bag?!)
Well, sometimes my handbag can feel like a bottomless pit when I am searching for an illusive pen!
Thankfully, the Borne Naked Handbag Liner came to my rescue.
I had the opportunity to take part in the Borne Naked Handbag Makeover Challenge, along with other bloggers from Kiwi Mummy Blogs.
It arrived beautifully wrapped.
The medium liner was not too big, not too small…it was just right for my handbag.
Since it is a Makeover Challenge, we need to have a before and after photo.
Here is the good, the bad, and the ugly (Yes, I did contemplate culling my bag before the photo, but this is reality blogging….and we’re all friend here right?!)
BEFORE!
I would say that half of the contents of my handbag were things I didn’t need to carry around with me!
After de-cluttering my handbag, I put my handbag essentials in my new Borne Naked Handbag Liner. (Wet Wipes, Pen, Tissues, Mini First Aid Kit, A Fold up Bag, A couple of Notebooks, and my wallet…I keep my cellphone in my pocket)
AFTER!
Everything is so easy to get to! No more Mary Poppin moments for me!
Love it!
I noticed that I am more aware if something from my Handbag Liner is missing from it’s allocated “spot” and needs returning or replacing. (eg when I gave my daughter the tissues, or lent someone my pen.)
Having the Borne Naked Handbag Liner in my bag means there is a clear distinction between my “essential” items (everything in my liner), and other random items that have found there way into my handbag. I can easily take those items out, and keep the clutter from taking over my bag again *phew*!
Hopefully, I will no longer inadvertently carry around stowaway objects for weeks without knowing!
Like these little beauties I found at the bottom of my bag:
- A stone that I must have “held” on to for my daughter, who went through a stone/rock fetish.
- A Tupperware spoon I won at a Tupperware party ageees ago.
- My Apple Itouch recharger that I must have put in my bag when we came back from holiday 2 weeks ago. *blush*
Other great things about this product:
- It is clear, so you can easily see what is in it at a glance.
- It has a few pockets with in it, so it is easy to keep things separate and accessible.
- It is really well made. It has a nice sturdy zip, that doesn’t feel like it is going to break off if you yank on it too hard.
I can also see how the Borne Naked Handbag Liner would come in handy when transferring all our essential items from one bag to another with ease.
Here’s what you need to do if you would like to get your own Borne Naked Handbag Liner:

hmmm what are My handbag essentials…
-wet wipes
-pen
-handy dandy notebook to take notes of prices of things i want hubby to buy me when we finally find a spare millon lying around
-wallet…comes in handy when there’s actually money in it
-a muesli bar, to quickly calm any tanty little miss is about to throw
-hand sanitizer…when wet wipes just won’t cut it…e.g little miss decides its fun rubbhing your hands in the mud and then onto clothes and then using same grubby hands to eat said museli bar.
I think that about sums it up. Loving the blogs. I read them regularly via email. Keep it up. I like having interesting things to read!
My essentials – these days my handbag is focused on fuss-free outings with the kids… wallet, phone, diary, notebook for jotting down random important thoughts that get lost in my mummy moments occasionally, tissues for runny noses, pens (these seem to breed in there I must say), and best of all, I usually keep a couple of toy cars and balloons for those moments like when you’ve been waiting in the doctors room for hours…
These days I can’t go anywhere without my phone and Yummy Mummy diary and pen
Lip gloss and tissues are a must too for those ‘Uh oh’ moments and I usually have a couple of Panadol floating around too for when those ‘Uh oh’ moments get too much!
My bag essentials are as follows:
- baby wipes
-tissues
-lipstick/lipgloss/eyeliner
-pen
-small notepad
-Miguel’s oatmeal bar and a couple of lollies (emergency items!)
-pantiliner/tampon
-keys
-panadol
-my mini-sudoku book
-wallet
-mobile phone
-hand sanitiser
oh i must i must!!! because i am the queen of handbag essentials! for all those ‘just in cases’!!!
just to be in them with everyone else:
lip balm. wallet. phone. notebook with pen. one nappy. wipes. tissues.
extras:
extra foldout shopping bag. geelong map (just in case?). mini chocolate mints. hair-ties. strawberry shortcake dolls. extra notebook and mini gelpens for the kids. as well as all sorts of other goodies that i can’t recall now but are lurking in the handbag depths.
i know you think i am ultra organised, but even this kit is putting me to shame! I WANTS IT!!!
Oh boy – this looks like the best thing since post it notes!!!! My handbag essentials are my mobile phone but then that’s more like my lifeline:) The non-negotiables are pens of various colours and types, tissues, lip balm, handydandy notebook filled with ever so essential bits of info, mints, little ‘pill’ container, wee retractable measuring tape, mirror, my cute wee lime green digital camera, clear nail varnish, sponge bob sticking plasters, blister plaster, sunglasses, polka dot reading glasses, postit notes, my bag hanger hook thingy, a spare fold up bag (for all the extra things I buy!), a couple of herbal tea bags and a chai latte sachet, a small packet of jellybeans for when my blood sugar levels are low (really an excuse for having lollies!), birthday dates book, and a hand sewing project of some sort. Phew!!!! No wonder my bag usually weighs a ton before I even walk out the door. One of these lovely organisers might encourage me to “trim down” perhaps:) Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. Ciao
Love the idea!
My handbag essentials (usually lost at the bottom of the nappy bag) are…
- wallet
- hairbrush and hair ties (for my daugher who leaves a trail of them behind her)
- contact solution
- cellphone
- wet wipes and plastic bag
- spare pair of kids underpants
- pen
- drink bottle
I love the idea of one of these… my handbag is a very sorry state!
my essentials are, tissues, hair ties, wallet, phone, keys, a notebook for writing down my creative ideas as they hit.. or just the grocery list, a seperate little zipper pouch with those millions of ‘reward’ cards, usb stick, sunnies…..
I am the queen of the mini- hand bag. Even though I carry a small hobo bag by Nine West that I picked up for $5 at a thrift store, I’m surprised by the stuff that shows up in there when I declutter! I can’t carry anything larger, or else the stuff in there just multiplies. The Borne Naked liner is a great idea.
Here are my essentials:
1) Blackberry
2) Canon pocket camera
3) Pen
4) Tiny notebook
5) Tide Pen (which I rarely remember to use)
6) Wallet
7) Library card (oddly, this doesn’t fit in my wallet)
8) Softlips balm
Nothing new here:
wipes, hand sanitiser, tissues, pen, wallet, snack (dried fruit/nuts, or apple etc), water bottle, diary, sunglasses, lip balm. If I don’t have something to eat and drink in my bag then I get the munchies really quickly and will buy something. Also I like the idea about the extra little zipper bag for the rewards cards. My wallet is so fat I can’t even close it.
I’ve got a cheapy small hand bag (it’s looking tired now though) that collects pens and receipts (A4 receipts too) and notes I’ve taken at meetings. It ends up being a tardis. I have a separate nappy bag for my toddler and that’s all his. But the things I must have in my handbag are: phone, keys and wallet. And Malia my wallet shuts now, only because I’ve put all my loyalty cards etc in a little inside pocket in my handbag – but it took me ages to find my Moore Wilsons card as we hardly go there nowadays. A little embarrassing. I just can’t believe how many cards we get these days.
I have a “wallet”, which floats between my Little Bag, my Medium Bag, and my Big Bag, which are all used for different times. It is really a passport holder with lots of slots for cards and many pockets, so that’s got my essential ID, and its where I can carry receipts, a pen, my chequebook(s) and some other cards (no room for change, though – that has to go in my pocket!);
If I have my kids with me when I’m going out, I also have to carry a large linen bag with Emergency Medical Supplies, and between that and my Big Bag, and my Little Bag, at any time, I am also carrying the following:
*At least one Epipen (Jr), *2 packs of tissues, *2 types of liquid antihistamine, *a tube of papaya lotion for facial dermatitis flareups; *hydrocortisone ointment, 0.1%, the very versatile *Nivea Hydro Care chap stick, *2 types of eyedrops (long-acting NSAID and short-acting antihistamine ones), *4 different types of hand sanitizers, a small pot of *Bee Balm, *betamethasone ointment, and sometimes a *Ventolin inhaler and *spacer (for longer trips)… and that’s just for a day trip.
My Big Bag also has colour samples I use for reference when window shopping for furniture, etc., and they’re currently a bottle of nailpolish in a shade I am in love with, the end off a tissue box, and a burnt-out blueberry tealight candle. I’m sure I’ll be adding to that, too; there are tissue boxes I’ll have to buy first, though. LOL
I have a snacksized ziplock bag that carries the “less-often-used” cards, like library cards or store cards, and that floats around the bottom of my Big Bag;
I have a large bulldog-clipped pile of business cards, floating around down there too, but it’s nearly full to bursting, so I’m going to have to systemize that better, soon;
SMALL BAG:
I carry Feminine Supplies in a side compartment, along with emergency sunblock; I also have a quick unpick in another pocket in there, and sometimes, my phone charger; I also usually have the extra Garage Door Opener, and a penlight.
In my Big Bag, I may have my glasses case and cleaning supplies, depending on whether or not I’m wearing contacts or glasses, and of course, if I’m in contacts, there might be solution and a mini case, and I may have my (non Rx) sunglasses too;
[MAN, after reading through this, no wonder my shoulders hurt! LOL. But I carry my life (and some literally life-saving supplies) in those bags, and my system has been refined over years and years, so it doesn't feel like such a big deal any more... until I have to explain to people what they'll need to carry with them, even if they're just watching the kids for a few hours at a park while my husband and I go out on a date. That's when I see their expanding pupils, which turn into blank stares, and their eyes become gaping caverns of silent terror, as then their ashen faces gulp, "Uh, I'd have to do what? Is that just for beestings? No? What? Uh, what would I use the red eyedrops for? What do you mean I *have* to carry a cellphone and this bag with me? We're just going to play on the swings at the park ... yes, there are flowers there... yes, they're probably pollinating, but ... then we were going to stop by New World... What? What's the problem with open containers of nuts by the deli section? Well, what CAN I feed them?" etc. etc. etc...]
(I’ll not mention the painkiller supplies that are in my car, because that might really scare people. LOL!)
hehe I often end up with a smooth rock or stone in my bag – do all kids go through that? I like to travel light with just a wallet, phone and keys for me BUT having a preschooler often means there are more and more things taking over my handbag. So for Summer there’ll be sunscreen, lip balm, sunnies x 2, wipes and possibly snacks and water.
oh I always have keys, phone, tissues boring… and essential when I have my 4yr old is his epipen and other allergy meds. And my red umbrella lives in there too, you can’t do the school run in Auckland without having a brolly on hand.
wallet
keys
phone
hair brush and tie
lip gloss
pen
sunnies
and millions of receipts
you can over to my review to see what I have in my handbag
please put me in your draw
Id like to win one back to give to my daughter for Christmas
