Juggling Motherhood Tip #10: Keep a Present Stash

Thank you Meghan from Exploring Beauty with MNM’s for sharing this tip with us!

“At certain times of the year, it does seem like a never ending stream of kids birthday parties to attend which usually means presents and cards to buy too. Save yourself the time on shopping for individual presents for children by building a Present Stash.

When you find something that you know a kid will like that is also really great value, why not buy a few more of the same item to go in the present stash. That way you will always have a ‘go to’ for the next birthday, or if you get caught out at the last minute you won’t have to make a dash to the shops. We’ve done this so many times with books, GI-Joes, Smiggle stationery, and crafty kits in the past.

If your child gets given something for their birthday that they’ve already grown out of or have something very similar, just add it to the present stash.

And either make your birthday cards, or buy cards in bulk either from a $2 Shop or when Whitcoulls is having one of their 50% off sales.”

Thank you Katherine from Katherine Marie Photography for sharing the following tip with us!

Health Tip: “Before every meal/snack I drink at two full cups of water!  This helps me to adequately hydrate and I feel like I’m not as inclined to overeat because I already feel full.”

Juggling Motherhood Tip #6: Birthday Card Scrapbook

“I got this idea from something my mum used to do for us! :-)

Ever wondered what to do with all the special cards your kids have received that you can’t bear to part with? If you’re like me, they will have been clogging up drawers, boxes and plastic bags until you figure out what on earth you’re going to do with them. Birth, christenings, dedications, birthdays. So many wonderful messages and memories of so many people who have been (and maybe gone again) in our lives. How can you keep these special memories for all time? Or at least until your kids are old enough to have read them for themselves. Why not create a birthday card scrapbook?
When your kids are older and can read for themselves, they will love to look through all the years of the scrapbook(s), I know I certainly did growing up. And then when I got old enough, I used to really enjoy putting my own cards in the scrapbook after each birthday too.”

Juggling Motherhood Tip #5: Distinguish between old & new eggs in the basket

Image: Angela

“Most often, I do this by boiling any eggs from the previous week and putting them in a tray in the fridge, so that all the fresh eggs in the basket are “new.” Sometimes we’re in no need of hard boiled eggs, or we’re in need of a lot of fresh eggs for baking and the like…so the eggs are all basket-bound. When not going with the boil-the-old method, I draw a picture on all eggs from the previous week and place them on top of the basket, and everyone in our home (including Esky), knows these are to be used first. We cannot have a renegade old egg hanging out in the basket for 5 months to be cracked open upon a cheerful baker, unawares.
